Seminar- 'NIVEDITA - A ROLE MODEL FOR INDIAN GIRLS

Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam conducted a seminar on the topic 'NIVEDITA - A ROLE MODEL FOR INDIAN GIRLS' , in connection with SAMARPANAM ,on 9.10.2017, at Mercy College Palakkad. Journalist Smt.Beena Govind, who has won 'K.Damodaran Smaraka Sahitya Puraskaram' for her novel 'Nivedita',  led the talk. We could also organize an exhibition that depicts the life history of Sister Nivedita on the occasion.  The program deserves special mention since it was conducted on one of the best Girls Colleges of the state.  The function started by a prayer, followed by a short speech of T.Sathyanand, the General Secretary of Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam, which informed the students about the aims of SAMARPANAM. Then the chief guest Smt.Beena Govind along with the staff representative of Mercy College Prof:Priya inaugurated the function. The key attraction of the day was undoubtedly the motivational words delivered by Smt.Beena Govind. She pictured an apt image of the great lady Sister Nivedita through her speech.She explained the main events happened in the life of Nivedita. She added that unlike other social workers like Mother Teresa, Sister Nivedita could go beyond the bondage of religion and culture.  One of the greatest impact of the talk was one of the students even enquired about the way to visit Belur Math after the speech.  We could deliver the message of Sister Nivedita to about 200 girls
