Lecture series on ‘Prastanathrayam’

Sampoojya Swami Golokanandaji Maharaj will speak on the topic of Prasthanathrayam the last Sunday of every month at Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam. Sampoojya Maharaj reminded us that the eternal essence in all the names and forms we see around us is God itself and this essence is found equally in every living being. The foundation of Hindu philosophy and thought are – Sruti, Smriti and Nyayam. Sruti is direct experience; eternal truths were revealed to the sages and they left a record of it in the form of Upanishads. The Upanishads reveal the truth about Brahman, which is the essence of all creation. Tatvam Asi, the Mahavakya found in Chandogya Upanishad, reminds us that God is within each and every one of us. But this truth is not easily revealed to us. One requires a mature mind to realize this truth. God is revealed only to pure minds. Just like a lion cub that lives among a herd of goats mistakes itself for a goat, a man who lives and thrives in the material world is unable to realize his true self because of his ignorance. Swami Vivekananda arrived at the holy feet of his master Sri Ramakrishna Paramahamsa with a lot of questions and concerns about religion and spirituality. Sri Ramakrishna erased all his concerns by simply touching Swamiji once. Awake your consciousness; this is the only way to make a spiritual seeker strong and pure. One has to train the mind and stay on the path to realize one’s true self.
