'Sept.11th Chicago Speech' - Commemmoration

A meeting was held on September 9, 2012 at the Town Hall, Palakkad to commemorate Swami Vivekananda’s Chicago address. Sri K. P. Sivadas (Faculty member, Amritha Viswa Vidya Peedam) introduced the topic. Sampoojya Swami Chidananda Puri ji Maharaj (Advaita Ashram, Kolathur) was the main speaker. He deplored our lack of historical sense which mainly accounts for the present predicament our country finds itself in. He exhorted everyone to study Swami Vivekananda earnestly and learn from his teachings. A book entitled ‘Chicago Calling’ written by Prof. S. Radhakrishnan with a preface by Sri Palat Mohandas IAS and published by Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam was released on the occasion. Prizes for the winners of the Chicago Address rendering competition were awarded on the occasion. Kumari Nandita Mohandas who won the first prize delivered the Chicago Address at the meeting. The meeting was attended by a large gathering of people from all walks of life.
