Seminar on Swami Vivekananda

Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam organized a three day national seminar on Swami Vivekananda on March 27, 28, 29, 2012 at the Fine Arts Society Auditorium, Tharekkad, Palakkad. The main speaker was the well-known mystic, yogi and spiritual master Sri Mumtaz Ali Khan, better known as Sri M, the author of the well acclaimed autobiography ‘Apprenticed to a Himalayan Master’ and the founder of Satsang Foundation. On the first day Sri M spoke on Swamiji’s life and teachings. He dwelt at length on the formative influences which shaped Swamiji’s later life and thoughts. On the second day Sri M spoke on Swamiji’s letters, a subject rarely touched upon by others. Based upon a few selected letters of Swamiji he showed how the letters serve as a key to unlocking the mighty mind and heart of Swamiji. On the concluding day Sri M spoke on Swamiji’s ‘Raja Yoga’, one of the principal means of manifesting the divinity within. His exposition on Raja Yoga, which is derived from Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras is masterful and his rendering is direct, simple and effective. A large number of people attended these discourses. Sri Palat Mohandas-IAS (Retd), Hon. Justice Chettur Sankaran Nair and Prof. S. Radhakrishnan, presided over these three-day functions respectively. Prof. K. Mohandas, CA. Arun A, Dr. P. S. Sukumara Pillai-President IMA, Lt. Col. (Retd) Dr. V.S.C. Mani, Sri P. Sankarankutty (Retd. Deputy Commissioner) and Dr. T. Raghunath spoke on these different dates. Dr. K.K. Velukutty read out his poem in praise of Sri M and presented him a Nataraja Idol on behalf of the Samajam.
