Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam is a registered non-government and non-sectarian organization founded and established in Palakkad, Kerala in 5th August 2008 officially by a band of truly dedicated and highly motivated youngsters, who are inspired by Swami Vivekananda’s life and teachings. As the name suggests, Vivekananda Darsanika Samajam was established with an aim of studying, assimilating and propagating the ‘life-giving, character-making and nation-building’ ideas and ideals embodied in the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the great patriot saint and practical visionary of modern India and the supreme inspirer of her dormant national consciousness, among people in general, but youth in particular. Sister Nivedita was a disciple and God child of Swami Vivekananda, the eternal light that shines in the spiritual firmament of India; born as Margaret Elizabeth Noble in Northern Ireland on October 28, 1867. We are getting ready to celebrate the 150th anniversary of this divine birth. The occasion not only commemorates her brilliant life but also her devotion and dedication to her Guru and India.

Daily puja at the shrine starts with Mangala Arati, then Stotras and Sri Lalitasahasranama archana at 5:00AM. 150th Birthday Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda(2011–2014: A Profile)
Vivekananda DarsanikaSamajam put together an Executive Committee on 6th November 2011 to celebrate the 150th Birthday of Swami Vivekananda in the District of Palakkad under the Chairmanship of Sri Palat Mohandas, I.A.S. (Former Chief Information Commissioner and Chief Secretary of Kerala). The committee constituted of 150 members belonging to all walks of life. The Chairman’s inaugural address explained the importance and relevance of Swamiji’s life and teachings and the urgent need to study, internalize and spread them through constructive and socially beneficial activities. Rev. Swami GolokanandajiMaharaj (Sri Ramakrishna Math and President of the State level celebrations committee) in his presidential address outlined the types of activities for individuals and those for social transformation to be contemplated during these years of celebrations. He complimented Vivekananda DarsanikaSamajam for taking the initiative for chalking out various socially beneficial activities, keeping the overall vision of Swamiji in mind. Vice chairman Prof. S. Radhakrishnan spoke on Swamiji’s inspirational work and life. Sri Jaya Kumar R (Coordinator) presented 18 major projects for the celebrations. The projects included national seminars, study classes for students, a youth meet, teachers’ orientation camps, youth camps, awareness campaigns, publication of newsletters, books, souvenirs, social service work etc.
